Welcome to The Rising Star Magazine’s pageant page! My name is Cassandra Gonzalez, and I am the reigning Miss Rising Star Cover Girl 2010. I currently reside in Mission, Texas, with my wonderful mother and beautiful little sister. I am twenty-one years old and enjoy many of the simple pleasures like watching movies and spending time with my family and friends.
More than anything, I pride myself in my numerous accomplishments. In 2006, I was the valedictorian of my high school class at South Texas Business, Education, & Technology Academy in Edinburg, TX. I continued my academic success and earned the honor of delivering a speech at commencement as the top graduate of The University of Texas—Pan American’s College of Social & Behavioral Sciences in May of 2009. I have also earned the admiration and respect of people in my community with the several pageant titles I have held since I began competing just two years ago.
The most important aspect of my life at this moment is my education. My grandmother once told me that knowledge is the one thing that can never be taken away from you, and I agree. I have been taught that having a good education is crucial, and it is because of this that I place so much emphasis on my academic studies. I am currently a graduate student pursing a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at UTPA, where I am also the graduate psychology secretary for the program. Once I receive my master’s degree next May, I hope to continue my education at the Ph.D. level and eventually practice as a successful clinician. My ultimate goal is to share my knowledge and experience as a university professor to help other students who are embarking on their own journeys to success.
I am honored to be representing The Rising Star Magazine this year, and I hope to make its readers proud. I look forward to a 2010 filled with smiles and memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. I hope to make a difference in my community, put smiles on people’s faces, and be remembered as the best Rising Star Cover Girl you have ever seen!

Hello, my name is Brittany Rodriguez, your reigning Teen Rising Star Cover Girl 2010. I’m 16 years old and I live and attend school in Weslaco. I love my amazing family, my dad and mother, along with my adorable 3 year old little sister that always guide me in the right direction and keep me going each and every day.
I am currently a Sophomore at Weslaco High School and I love it! While taking all of my classes at an advanced level, I always enjoy being involved in several extra-curricular activities, and staying involved. I’m in the National Honor Society, where after applying you must get selected to be a member by having a good GPA, good behavior, good volunteerism, and an excelling personality. I’m also involved in the Earth Club which helps the environment along with giving back to the community. I also like staying active every day with the Weslaco girls Track and Field team and I’m excited to watch all of our hard work pay off and start the new season!
After graduating high school in two years, my goal is to leave away to college, and pursue a career in the medical field. It has always been a dream of mine to graduate Med School and start a career where I’ll help others and do something I love each and every day.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, modeling, participating in pageants, running, swimming, shopping and traveling. I’ve been taking advantage of my height 5’11, and been fortunate do have done many style shows across the valley, attend Missy’s Modeling Studio, as well as model in several Bridal shows, and Bridal and Prom expo’s. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with Contempo Magazine by doing an article and a several picture ads for different businesses. I started competing in pageants one year ago and I was blessed with the awesome experiences’ of being the reigning Miss. Rio Grande Valley Jr. Teen 2009 and Miss. Onion Fest 2009 and now the new Teen Rising Star Cover Girl 2010.
I’m eager and looking forward to working with, and representing The Rising Star Magazine this whole year with my wonderful sister queens, and making it the best year ever!

Teen Rising Star Cover Girl 2010
Hello I’m Marla Katelynn Yanez your new Pre-teen Rising Star Cover Girl 2010. I am 11 years old and I am originally from San Antonio, Texas. My family and I moved to McAllen when I was three years old and I feel like I can call the Valley my real home. I attend Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School and I am in sixth grade.
My ambition is to become a successful lawyer to help bring justice to the world. I love to be involved in school and in my community. In school I am involved in Worship Committee, Legion of Mary, School Choir, and I am an OLS Cheerleader. I have no brothers or sisters but I have an adorable and lovable yorkie named Prince Hubble just Hubble for short. I also like to sing and dance ballet. Some of my past-times are playing with Hubble, playing my Wii, playing my DSi, going swimming, or reading. One of my favorite book series is A Series Of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket.
I am very excited and look forward to participating in the upcoming schedule of community service events which I know will be scheduled by the Rising Star staff for us this upcoming year.

Pre-teen Rising Star Cover Girl 2010
From your reigning Jr. Miss Rising Star Cover Girl 2010 I am Kayleen Mariah Reyes daughter of Jose and Rhoda Reyes. I was born on the 31st of August 2000 in Harlingen, TX. I have only one sister Kailha and I love to hang out in her room when she lets me.
When I grow up I want to become a Veterinarian to help the less fortunate animals. I’m proud to say I’m a mommy to 3 dogs that my family and I adopted from the Harlingen Humane Society: Beauty, Blackie and Freckles.
But for now I am a 9 year old Gifted and Talented 4th grader at Ed Downs Elementary in San Benito. I like to participate in extra curricular activates at my school which include UIL, Math Olympics, Science Fair, Multi Media and anything that my teacher asks if I want to participate in. Some of my hobbies are reading, dancing, singing, and playing sports such as volleyball, basketball and softball.
I give a big thanks to my one and only favorite aunt and role model Regina McKinney for all her support.
Finally, I’m very excited in having this opportunity to represent The Rising Star Magazine. I look forward in representing it well with my pageant sisters.

Jr. Miss Rising Star Cover Girl 2010
Isabella Nicole Rodriguez is 7 years old and a 1st grader at Canterbury Elementary in Edinburg, Texas. She was born on October 14th, 2002. She is the daughter of Ruben and Lorena Rodriguez and has a sister, Victoria. She also has a dog named Shaggy Girl which she adopted from the Palm Valley Humane Society. One of the activities Isabella enjoys is returning to the humane society and walking the dogs which are waiting to be adopted. One day Isabella would like to be a pet trainer and own her how pet store.
Isabella’s other interests are singing, reading, going to carnivals, and drawing. Playing chess is another one of Isabella’s interest. She has been competing in tournaments since she was in kindergarten at Canterbury Elementary. Isabella has competed in several pageants since she was 1 year old. Her previous title was Miss South Texas All-American Little Miss 2009.
